I will be getting one very soon and need to start shopping right now. It is my first notebook computer (had desktops all my life) and I like Dell and HP, but which one? Can I have some suggestions? Also, if you have other brands that you feel are totally cool, feel free to add them to the poll.

I want to buy a new notebook (laptop) computer and was wondering if anybody has some suggestions on what to get or not to get.

I live in Sydney, Australia and am a uni student. I do like to play around with different editing programs as well. I want something that is preferably light weight to take to uni with me and has a large memory capacity. It would also be preferable if it wasn’t slow.

For the time being, I am not too fussed on a price range - I just want something that is good, reliable and will hopefully last a while.
(My last computer was a Compaq and it was terrible!!!)

I couldnt found touch-sensitive volume control which described in the manual of HP Compaq 6710s. So i cant adjust volume now. Is there any suggestion?
