Well first of all, thats not a Pentium. Thats A Core Duo. Don’t confuse that with a Core 2 Duo, the Core Duo has a smaller cache and a slower Front Side Bus. I know thats technical mumbo jumbo, but what that means is its not as fast. But a Core Duo is WAAAY better than a Pentium 4.
Heres the good news, you’ve got last years Mid-High range computer thats still a pretty fair deal. Heres the bad, You could have bought this years Mid-High range for about 1100 dollars. But if you are like me, and every dollar counts, then this is a pretty good buy. And if you are just using this computer for standard stuff, Photo editing, Web Surfing, burning CD’s/DVDs watching movies, ect, then everything you’ve got there will work and work well. If you like to play games, it will even work for a few more years, albeit at lower quality settings. The Geforce GO is a decent video card, and its WAY better than integrated graphics.
In short, You don’t have a brand new gaming rig, but you can count on it to do most everything you want it to for the next 2-3 years. You done good. Your money, in my oppinion, was well spent.
Oh yeah, you are good. That will work great for almost anything.
Sounds like you got ripped off…sorry.
Everything is good except vista and the hard disk, good luck with that. I would go with Ubuntu Linux instead, it’s more stable, has bullet proof security, and oh yeah, it FREE!!!!!!!
really depends on what you plan to use it for, but the specs look better than most laptops especially if you plan to play games a bit because it has a graphics card not the built in chip crap. Also has good bit of RAM to it. Only downside is the processor. Laptops are naturally expensive for what you get in them so I would say the price was about right. If it was a desktop computer I would say total rip off, but somehow the mobility of the computer makes price sky rocket.
it look’s pretty good
for normal day use
but i’m a little concerned about the prosseser
i would recomend a 2.3 atleast
but it is dual core
i never tried 1.73 dual core
so i really don’t know about that
also look for laptops at tigerdirect.com
awsome place
cheap stuff for awsome stuff
also wat XxDDevilxX said
wat r u using it for
and wat IRONFIST-X2 said
linux is okay but not many programs for it
if ur using it for gaming
i’ll get a better prosscesr
u got an awsome ram and video card 256mb awsome
overall its pretty good
but u bought it already
Don’t let the other guys here get you down. It will be a fine laptop for you.
You can quibble over the details but overall here are your system’s strengths.
Dual Core Processor — slowest of the group, but powerful enough for what most people will want.
Windows Vista — only the basic variety, but will still let you run what you need to.
2GB Ram — Enough ram for now and probably for a while down the road.
7400 Nvidia Chip — not top of the heap but way WAY better than most integrated GMA crap.
120GB Drive — bigger than most and will be spacious enough for most tasks. 5400 is middle of the road, not super speedy but not too slow either.
and Works to get some work done. Its not Office, but for around the home tasks should be more than enough.
Imprint finish / microphone / webcam — nice extra’s
If you wanted to spend hours searching for a better deal you could have found one. If you wanted to hunt through dozens of models you could have found more powerful ones. If you want to quibble over what would have been better you could.
However, its a solid machine with solid specs and no particularly weak areas.
Enjoy!
