Im going to buy a new notebook computer. But I dont know which kind to buy?

what are the best/reliable,etc companies to buy from?
if i can customize that would be good as well as i know the specs i want that are ideal for me. Basically i just want a great reliable notebook computer thats going to last and have everything i want on it and i dont want to make a mistake and choose the wrong one.

For online customization I’d recommend probably these two companies since they have the tools right up on thier webpages.

Dell invented the online computer customizing form and has really good prices. Check out the different types of computers and get a feel for them.
Apple has some good software that may be worth the premium price, and can run Windows XP also. Macbook or Macbook pro.
Those are your best bets.
if you want an apple, the MacBook is a good one.
If you want a Windows OS, get a Sony Vaio
Unfortunately laptops are just like every other kind of electronics. You could buy two identical ones, and one will work perfectly for years, and the one next to it will fail whenever you look at it wrong.
The specs vary widely depending on what you are actually going to do with it. Don’t waste money on features you won’t use. If you are just wanting to use it for internet, music, word processing, etc. then just get a Dell - they are cheap, reasonably reliable, and have extended warranties available. HP/Compaq are pretty similar.
Avoid celeron processors–stick to pentium or dual-core. Dell has recently started putting AMD processors in their laptops–dropping the price a bit, I would probably still avoid the low end AMD processors though–stick to the Turion ones.
Sony and Toshiba are a little more expensive, but if you are going to be using it extensively, they might be worth the extra cash.

i’ve been a bit lavish, pal
but i think it’s worth the money, 3 year complete care includes accidents, liquid spills and all … so no more worry for 3 years
about portability, it’s a 12.1" system & weighs under 4.4 lbs.
starting with a great processor, the t7200 > it’s a 64 bit processor & hence very much vista stuff, a good 2.0 ghz clock speed, 667 mhz fsb & an awesome 4 mb l2 cache
couple it with 2 gig of ram & 256 mb dedicated graphics > it performs most applications & programmes at ease
a 120 gb sata hard drive, with dvd writer completes the system
icing on cake is the os: win xp media centre 2005 & coupled with dell media direct, music, snaps, dvd flicks, presentations & even some work at the flick of a button, without even booting windows > notice external console / buttons
the small size fools you at first, inside is packed & loaded

sure dell has their share of detractors
but with u’r system insured for 3 yrs, there’s no cause for worry
btw, mine is a xps m140 & so far so good
> the xps m140 was withdrawn just a month after i got it & in came the xps m1210 - my bad luck !
# also, i’d like to mention that the t7200 processor is my favorite, the t7400 & t7600 are faster, but way too overpriced ondate !
