If the wireless device is built in the computer it should be installed. If it got deleted go to Compaq hp site put your model# in and choose driver down loads. If this device is a add on like a card or usb device it should have come with a cd. If you don’t have the cd google the brand model # drivers hit google search, download install.
There are a few possibilities, reading your question (not very informative btw).
a. If there is a wireless receiver in your laptop, it should already be configured and working. If so, look for a little switch on the outside of your laptop to turn on wireless communication (most common problem encountered by many). It shows a little antenna and waves on both sides as an indicator.
b. if it is an old laptop, or somebody messed around with it, you could always download drivers from the Compaq site. Just type your brand and type and add the word "driver" in Google and download them.
c. there is no wireless receiver in your laptop. That’s a whole other ball game. In this case you need to buy an external antenna with a cable to connect to your USB port. These things come with an install-CD with drivers.
Hope this helps a little to solve the issue.
Good luck
6307 doesn’t seem to be your model number. IF this device has always been a part of your computer there’s one option.
If you are running Windows XP, RIGHT click on the My Computer and choose Properties, then choose Hardware. Then Device Manager.
Odds are, if your wireless hardware has always been there then there’s a yellow question mark next to it on the list of installed devices.
If you already have the driver & know where you put it on your hard drive, RIGHT click on the offending device & choose Update Driver.
Follow what it says to do to go to where you put it. There might be a "Have Disk" option to choose & that will prompt you to go to where you put what you got.
Big thing is to make sure you got the right driver from Compaq’s web site. Follow the prompts & it ought to take care of your problem.
