I recently reformatted, and I’ve downloaded all the drivers from the compaq website and they’ve all worked, except the audio drivers. I’ve also tried downloading realtek drivers, and nothing’s worked.

Does anyone have any opinions of a good laptop or notebook under 500 dollars? All I really need is 3 or 4 GB of memory, DVD and CD play and burn capability, and wireless. Pretty basic. So does anyone know of a good brand or specific laptop or notebook I should get?
I looked on Dell and the minis only have 1 GB memory and I want 3 or 4 GB.

I have a Dell notebook computer, and I’m downloading a program, which is taking forever. I’ve noticed that the bottom is getting somewhat hot. I’ll need to leave soon, and I was planning on leaving my notebook on while I was gone so the program would finish downloading. If the computer does overheat, will it always automatically shut off (like a safety feature) before permanent damage is done? Thanks a lot.

My wife owns a Gateway 400VTX Notebook computer. The fan has recently stopped working and the BIOS displays a "fan error" at startup. Being only familiar with desktop system hardware, I am unsure of how to correctly disassemble the proper components to gain access to it. Do I go at it from the top (through the keyboard) or the bottom? A site would be helpful, but if you’re experienced, I’ll take your word for it. Thanks!
